Agri Business Innovation Challenge

Challenge Synopsis:

The Agribusiness Innovation Challenge is supported by funding from GAIN, the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition, in partnership with the Nigeria Climate Innovation Center (NCIC). The Challenge is designed to select Agritech startups with founders between the ages of 18 and 35 years with digital innovations that solve challenges across the agricultural supply chain in Nigeria with an outcome to increase access to safe and nutritious foods. At the end of the Agribusiness Innovation Challenge, 4 finalists will be selected and supported to replicate their innovative solutions at any of the following locations: Kaduna, Nasarawa, Benue and Oyo states. 

 

Challenge Thematic Areas

· Tech-enabled Food traceability: Innovations that enable producers and consumers to quickly track and trace the history of food products throughout the supply chain, from farm to fork. 

· Cold Chain Storage: Innovations designed to support the preservation and management of temperature-sensitive agricultural products, such as starchy root vegetables, i.e Orange Fleshed Sweet Potatoes, and more, at controlled and low temperatures to maintain their quality and extend their shelf life.

The The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss based foundation launched at the United Nations in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with governments, businesses, and civil society, we aim to transform food systems to make healthier diets accessible to all people and especially the most vulnerable, in a sustainable manner. By 2027, we aim to improve 1.5 billion people's access to nutritionally enhanced staple foods, 25 million people's access to healthier diets, and support positive food systems.

The Nigeria Climate Innovation Center was set up by the World Bank and supported by the Federal Government of Nigeria to develop and deploy solutions to climate change challenges in Nigeria by providing venture development and capacity-building support.
