Application Portal for 2021 Kickstart powered by International Breweries Foundation

To participate in the Kickstart, prospective awardees are required to fill and submit an application form. To be considered for shortlisting, applicants are required to meet the following requirements:

I.   Age: 18 years to 35 years.
II.  Communication: English language (read, write and speak).
III. Location: Reside in and have their business operations in Nigeria
IV. Business Areas:

·         Agriculture - (Maize, Rice and Sorghum value chain and others)

·         Circular Packaging (e.g., recycling)

·         Renewable Energy

·         Water Stewardship

·         Modular Retailing (Unique small-scale sales model for International Breweries Plc. Products)

·         Others

 V. Businesses must be within 0 to 3years.

The International Breweries Foundation is an arm of International Breweries Plc, (a proud part of the AB InBev Group) with the objective of delivering impactful, developmental, and sustainable projects. Kickstart is an initiative of the Foundation and focuses on enterprise growth and development for young entrepreneurs. The programme supports youth-owned businesses through the provision of training, access to capital (grants) and mentoring. 

Kickstart is also available within other countries in Africa, as an initiative of the Africa Zone of the AB InBev Group. The program hitherto has been successfully implemented in South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and Tanzania. In Nigeria, the program started in 2016 and has run three editions in the South West and South East region. With effect from 2019, Kickstart has become a national intervention in Nigeria, now open to youths in the six geo-political zones of the country.

Can I apply if my business focus area is not mentioned?

Yes, you can apply as others, however, more priority is placed on the business focus areas mentioned.

I am in agriculture but not in the area of maize, rice and sorghum, can I still apply?

Yes, you can apply, however, more priority is placed on businesses within maize, rice and sorghum value chain.

What does modular retailing involve?

These are businesses who intend selling the various products of International Breweries PLC on a small scale and have developed an innovative distribution and sale.

Can I apply offline?

No, you can only apply online via https://reg.smetoolkit.ng/program-apply/kickstart-nigeria-2021  provided

Are there any fees for applying or any other associated costs?

There are no fees required to register, registration for Kickstart is absolutely free

What is the age limit?

Yes, you must not be above 35 years

As a previous Kickstart beneficiary/awardee, can I re-apply for another grant?

No, you cannot re-apply.
